Traditional Choices and Dilemmas of Courtyard Greening

In the past, most homeowners prioritized natural lawns for courtyard greening. The fresh grass scent and soft texture are indeed delightful. However, in actual maintenance, the “troubles” of natural lawns often exceed expectations.

First, high maintenance costs. Natural lawns require regular mowing, watering, fertilizing, weeding, and pest & disease control. A quality lawn mower is costly, and at least one or two hours per week are needed for upkeep. If you’re busy or away on vacation, the lawn may quickly turn into an “overgrown field”, even developing bare or yellowed patches.

Second, excessive water consumption. In summer heat or arid regions, a tens-of-square-meters lawn needs watering several times weekly, resulting in substantial water bills. Amid growing water scarcity, high-water-demand natural lawns increasingly conflict with environmental ideals.

Finally, poor weather resistance. Natural lawns go dormant, turning yellow and withered in winter; they easily get waterlogged and attract mosquitoes in the rainy season; they struggle to thrive in shaded areas or high-traffic zones. These “inherent flaws” frustrate many homeowners.

It is against this backdrop that eco turf landscaping has emerged and quickly gained market recognition.
