Any grand structure begins with a solid foundation. Before stacking upwards, choosing the right storage system is the first step.
1. The Gold Standard: Professional Pallet Racking
Advantages: Pallet racking is the gold standard for vertical storage. It places each pallet (turf grass lawn roll) on an independent shelf level, completely avoiding compression between upper and lower layers and perfectly protecting the product. It also allows for 100% product accessibility, facilitating the retrieval of any roll, making it ideal for enforcing FIFO.
Application Scenario: Suitable for warehouses with high turnover rates, diverse product specifications, and sufficient budget.
2. The Economical Choice: Drive-in Racking
Advantages: Offers high space utilization (fewer aisles) while ensuring structural strength. Goods are stored from the same aisle at the front, making fuller use of space.
Disadvantages: High storage density but lower access flexibility. It is often difficult to strictly follow FIFO, making it more suitable for large batches of a single product with long storage cycles.
Key Consideration: Must have clear signage and strict management of storage/retrieval sequence.
3. Basic Safeguard: High-Quality Pallets
Regardless of the racking used, high-quality, sturdy, flat wooden or plastic pallets are indispensable. They are not only a moisture barrier lifting the rolls off the ground but also the foundation for distributing pressure and ensuring stack stability. Pallets must be inspected for damage before each storage use.
